23. Try to reach out to parents/guardians consistently throughout the school year.
24. Use different methods to reach parents/guardians (phone call, email, letters, at home visits, in school pot-luck, and conference meetings…etc.)25. Make expectations clear from the get go. 26. Learn to manage transitions smoothly to limit disruptions. 29. Do not get stuck in a singular mode of teaching, mix it up! 30. Tighten up on time management. 31. Keep students engaged and involved with the lessons to prevent disruption. 32. Incorporate hands on work, manipulatives and outdoor learning to improve engagement. 33. Be transparent with learning and rules/procedures. 34. Make jobs for the students and change them weekly. 35. Do forget to check up on the students who tend to be introverted! 36. Ask higher level thinking questions! 37. Keep a homework binder to keep track. 38. Play symphonic or simply three (a trio orchestra group) on Spotify during independent work time. 39. Make sure you are positive, calm and have a neutral demeanor whenever you need to address misbehavior. 44. Model correct and wrong behavior when discussing the expectations. 45. End the day with a read aloud story to calm the children down. 46. Keep documentation (data) for behavior and academics! 47. Try to use a ‘star student’ of the week as your personal assistant. 48. After each break (longer than two days) do a quick reminder of rules and procedures in the classroom. 49. If you use groups, make group/pod names (like name them after continents). 50.
